Who Dares Wins (TV series)

Who Dares Wins is a British game show that aired on Channel 4 from 2007 to 2019, hosted by Nick Hancock and later by Dara Ó Briain. The format of the show involved two teams of two contestants answering general knowledge questions.

The core mechanic revolved around a "winch" system. Each correct answer allowed a team to pull their winch forward, gradually moving them closer to a cash prize. Incorrect answers would either stall their progress or, in later series, potentially move the opposing team closer to winning. Teams could also choose to "cash out" at various points, sacrificing the opportunity for a larger prize to guarantee a smaller, previously earned amount. This introduced a strategic element, requiring contestants to weigh their confidence in answering future questions against the risk of losing everything.
