Spider-Man (2017 TV series)
Spider-Man (2017 TV series), also known as Marvel's Spider-Man, is an American animated television series based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. It replaced the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series and premiered on Disney XD on August 19, 2017. The series was developed by Kevin Shinick and produced by Marvel Animation.
The show features a younger, less experienced Peter Parker juggling his life as a high school student at Horizon High and his responsibilities as Spider-Man. The series departs from previous animated iterations by emphasizing Peter's intellect and his ability to use science and technology to enhance his Spider-Man abilities. He is mentored by Max Modell at Horizon High, a school for gifted students in science and technology.
Throughout the series, Peter faces various classic Spider-Man villains, as well as new threats and challenges. The show also features team-ups with other Marvel characters, including Ghost-Spider (Gwen Stacy), Miles Morales, and Anya Corazon, who eventually form a core team with Spider-Man. The overarching narrative explores Peter's growth as both a superhero and a young man, dealing with themes of responsibility, teamwork, and the importance of scientific exploration.
The series ran for three seasons, with each season adopting a different subtitle and focused narrative arc. The first season was titled Back to Basics, the second season Maximum Venom, and the third season Spider-Man: Far From Home, tying into the release of the live-action film of the same name. The show concluded in 2020.
