Kevin Ellison (American football)
Kevin Ellison (born December 26, 1986) is a former American football safety. He played college football at USC, where he was a two-time All-Pac-10 selection.
Early Life and College Career
Ellison attended Redondo Union High School in Redondo Beach, California. He then played college football for the USC Trojans from 2005 to 2009. During his time at USC, he was a key player on the Trojans' defense, known for his hard-hitting style and aggressive play. He was recognized as a first-team All-Pac-10 selection in 2008 and a second-team All-Pac-10 selection in 2007.
Professional Career
Ellison was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the sixth round (187th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft. He played for the Chargers from 2009 to 2012, primarily as a special teams player and reserve safety. In 2013, he signed with the Seattle Seahawks but was released before the season began. He later signed with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2013 and played for them until 2014. Ellison’s NFL career was characterized by his role as a special teams contributor and a backup safety, contributing mainly on kick and punt coverage teams.
