Mexrenone

Mexrenone is a synthetic steroidal antimineralocorticoid and antiandrogen. It is related to spironolactone and canrenone, functioning as a prodrug to canrenone, its major active metabolite. Mexrenone is used in the treatment of conditions such as hypertension, heart failure, and acne. It exerts its effects by blocking the mineralocorticoid receptor, thereby inhibiting the actions of aldosterone, and by blocking the androgen receptor, reducing the effects of androgens.
