Wada Ei

Wada Ei (和田 英) was a Japanese mathematician and educator of the Edo period. He is known for his contributions to wasan, traditional Japanese mathematics, particularly in the area of enri (circle principle), which involved finding areas and volumes of various geometric shapes.

Wada Ei developed and refined many techniques related to approximation and infinite series. He meticulously studied and expanded upon the works of earlier mathematicians, contributing to a deeper understanding of calculus concepts within the context of wasan. His work provided a foundation for later advancements in Japanese mathematics. He also dedicated efforts to education, disseminating his knowledge to aspiring mathematicians.
