Patari (service)
Patari was a Pakistani music streaming service. It aimed to promote and preserve Pakistani music by providing a platform for artists to share their work and for listeners to discover a wide range of genres, from traditional folk and classical music to contemporary pop and rock. Patari differentiated itself by focusing primarily on Pakistani content, including music in regional languages.
The service offered both free and subscription-based models. The free tier typically provided access to a limited selection of songs with advertisements, while the paid subscription offered ad-free listening, offline downloads, and higher audio quality.
Patari also worked on original content, producing live studio recordings and collaborating with artists on exclusive releases. They were active in the Pakistani music scene, sponsoring events and supporting emerging talent.
The platform faced challenges related to copyright infringement and revenue generation, issues common to many music streaming services, particularly in developing markets. As of late 2020, Patari ceased operations, citing financial difficulties. Although the platform is no longer operational, it played a significant role in shaping the digital music landscape in Pakistan and highlighting the country's diverse musical heritage.
