VA-155 (U.S. Navy)

VA-155 was a designation for two separate attack squadrons of the United States Navy. The first VA-155 was established on 15 July 1945 and disestablished on 15 November 1945. The second VA-155 was established on 24 March 1955 and disestablished on 30 September 1977.

First VA-155:

• History: This squadron was short-lived, being commissioned near the end of World War II and decommissioned shortly after the war's conclusion. Its primary role would have been in the Pacific Theater, providing close air support and attack capabilities from aircraft carriers. Second VA-155:

• Nickname: The Silver Foxes (previously, the Sea Horses).
• Homeport: NAS Moffett Field (later NAS Lemoore).
• Aircraft Flown: AD-6/A-1H Skyraider, A-4C/A-4E/A-4F Skyhawk.
• History: The second VA-155, the "Silver Foxes," had a much longer and more active service life. They deployed extensively to the Western Pacific, participating in multiple cruises aboard various aircraft carriers. During the Vietnam War, VA-155 participated in numerous combat operations, providing close air support, interdiction, and bombing missions. Their A-1 Skyraiders and later A-4 Skyhawks were heavily involved in strikes against North Vietnamese targets and support for ground forces in South Vietnam. The squadron earned numerous awards and commendations for its performance during the war. Following the Vietnam War, VA-155 continued to deploy with the Pacific Fleet until its disestablishment in 1977.
