Luis Díaz (Spanish footballer)
Luis Díaz (born January 13, 1997) is a Colombian professional footballer who plays as a winger for Premier League club Liverpool and the Colombia national team.
Díaz began his professional career with Barranquilla F.C., before moving to Atlético Junior in 2017. He won the Copa Colombia in 2017 and 2019, as well as the Categoría Primera A title in 2018 and 2019 with Junior. In 2019, he was the top scorer of the Copa Colombia.
In 2019, Díaz joined Portuguese club Porto. During his time there, he won the Primeira Liga title in 2019–20 and 2021–22, and the Taça de Portugal in 2019–20. He also won the Taça da Liga in 2019–20.
In January 2022, Díaz transferred to Liverpool for a reported fee of £37.5 million, with potential add-ons. He quickly established himself as a key player for Liverpool, contributing to their FA Cup and EFL Cup victories in 2022.
Díaz made his senior international debut for Colombia in 2018. He has represented Colombia at the Copa América in 2019, 2021, and 2024. He was the joint top scorer of the 2021 Copa América, alongside Lionel Messi.
Díaz is known for his pace, dribbling ability, and goal-scoring prowess. He typically plays as a left winger, cutting inside onto his stronger right foot. He is considered one of the most exciting and talented players in South American football.
