Richard Gordon (film producer)
Richard Gordon (1925-2011) was a British film producer, primarily known for producing low-budget horror, science fiction, and exploitation films. Born in London, he had a long and prolific career spanning several decades, starting in the late 1940s and continuing into the 1980s.
Gordon often worked with independent production companies and distributors, focusing on films intended for international markets. Some of his most notable productions include Fiend Without a Face (1958), a science fiction horror film featuring stop-motion animation; The Haunted Strangler (1958), also known as Grip of the Strangler, starring Boris Karloff; and Corridors of Blood (1958), another film featuring Boris Karloff, alongside Christopher Lee.
He also produced films in other genres, including crime thrillers and comedies. While not always critically acclaimed, Gordon's films were often commercially successful and have developed a cult following over time, particularly among fans of classic horror and exploitation cinema. He was a key figure in the development and popularization of British genre filmmaking. His son, Henry Gordon, also became involved in film production and distribution.
