John Murray (congressman)

John Murray (born November 26, 1808, died September 17, 1860) was a U.S. Representative from Ohio.

Biography:

Born in Warren County, Ohio, Murray attended the common schools. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1833, commencing practice in Lebanon, Ohio. He served as prosecuting attorney of Warren County from 1836 to 1839.

Political Career:

Murray was elected as a Democrat to the Thirtieth Congress (March 4, 1847 – March 3, 1849). He was not a candidate for renomination in 1848.

Later Life and Death:

After his term in Congress, Murray resumed the practice of law. He died in Lebanon, Ohio, on September 17, 1860. He was interred in Lebanon Cemetery.
