Arelion

Arelion (formerly Telia Carrier) is a global internet backbone provider. It owns and operates one of the world's largest internet backbones, known as AS1299. Arelion provides IP Transit, Wavelengths, Ethernet, and DDoS Mitigation services to network operators, content providers, and enterprises.

History:

Arelion's roots trace back to Telia, the Swedish national telecommunications company. The network was initially developed to serve Telia's domestic and international connectivity needs. Over time, it evolved into a separate business unit focused on providing wholesale connectivity services to other providers.

In 2020, Telia Carrier was acquired by Polhem Infra, an infrastructure investment company jointly owned by Swedish pension funds. Following the acquisition, the company rebranded as Arelion in 2022.
