Ron Simpson (basketball)
Ron Simpson (born c. 1949) is an American former professional basketball player.
Simpson played college basketball for Virginia Union University, an historically Black college (HBCU) in Richmond, Virginia. He was a standout player and led the Panthers to the 1970 NCAA College Division National Championship.
Following his collegiate career, Simpson was drafted by the Boston Celtics in the 1971 NBA Draft (13th round, 203rd overall pick). While he did not play in the NBA, he played professionally in the American Basketball Association (ABA) for the Carolina Cougars. He played in 69 games for the Cougars during the 1971-72 season, averaging 4.8 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.
