Glabella (gastropod)
Glabella is a genus of small to medium-sized sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Marginellidae, the margin snails.
Glabella shells are typically smooth, glossy, and ovate or cylindrical in shape. The spire is often reduced or completely absent, resulting in a smooth transition between the body whorl and the apex of the shell. The aperture is narrow and elongated, and the outer lip is usually thickened and smooth. These snails are known for their carnivorous or scavenging feeding habits.
The genus Glabella encompasses a number of species found in tropical and temperate waters worldwide. Species within the genus can be differentiated by subtle variations in shell shape, size, color patterns, and geographical distribution. Careful examination of shell morphology is often required for accurate identification.
