SS Gothic (1947)

SS Gothic was a passenger and cargo liner built by Swan Hunter & Wigham Richardson in Wallsend-on-Tyne, England, for the Shaw, Savill & Albion Line. Launched in December 1947 and completed in December 1948, she primarily served the Southampton to New Zealand route, via South Africa and Australia.

Known for her distinctive appearance with two masts and a single funnel, the Gothic offered accommodation for both first-class and tourist-class passengers. She played a significant role in post-war passenger transport and trade between the United Kingdom and the Southern Hemisphere.

In 1968, the Gothic was sold to the John Latsis Company and renamed Marianna Latsis. She was subsequently used for pilgrim transportation and accommodation purposes.

The vessel was eventually scrapped in 1981.
