Prince Philipp of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1901–1985)
Prince Philipp Josias Maria Joseph Ignaz Thaddäus Felix Michael Gabriel Raphael Gonzaga of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (15 August 1901 – 18 October 1985) was a German prince, the second son of Prince August Leopold of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and Archduchess Karoline Marie of Austria. He was a member of the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha-Koháry.
Philipp was born at Schloss Gerasdorf near Vienna, Austria. His father, Prince August Leopold, was the eldest son of Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and Princess Constanza of Braganza. His mother, Archduchess Karoline Marie, was a daughter of Archduke Karl Salvator of Austria and Princess Maria Immaculata of Bourbon-Two Sicilies.
Philipp served in the German Army during World War II, reaching the rank of Hauptmann (Captain). After the war, he lived a relatively private life.
He married Helene Viktoria, Edle von Skublics zu Beszed et Velike, on 23 September 1944 in Dobronice. They had three children:
- Princess Maria-Christina of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (born 1945)
- Princess Isabelle of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (born 1946)
- Prince Philipp August of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (born 1951)
Prince Philipp died on 18 October 1985 in Coburg, Germany.
