Homestay (film)
Homestay is a 2018 Thai fantasy thriller film directed by Parkpoom Wongpoom. It is based on the Japanese novel Colorful by Eto Mori.
The film centers around a troubled spirit who is given a second chance at life by inhabiting the body of a deceased high school student named Min. The spirit is tasked with discovering the cause of Min's death within 100 days, or they will face eternal oblivion. During this time, the spirit, now living as Min, navigates Min's complex life, including his fraught relationships with his family, his unrequited love for a fellow student, and his struggles with academic pressure.
As the spirit investigates Min's past, they uncover hidden truths and unravel the reasons behind Min's despair, leading to a confrontation with the reality of Min's life and ultimately revealing the circumstances surrounding his death. The film explores themes of second chances, the value of life, and the importance of understanding and empathy.
