USS Whale

The USS Whale refers to two submarines of the United States Navy.

• USS Whale (SS-239): A Gato-class submarine, commissioned in 1942. She served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, conducting multiple war patrols and earning several battle stars. She was decommissioned in 1945.

• USS Whale (SSN-638): A Sturgeon-class submarine, commissioned in 1968. She served during the Cold War, conducting various operations. She was decommissioned in 1996 and subsequently scrapped through the Nuclear Powered Ship and Submarine Recycling Program (NPSSRP).
