Ōmura Station (Nagasaki)
Ōmura Station (大村駅, Ōmura-eki) is a railway station in Ōmura, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. It is operated by the Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu). The station is located on the Ōmura Line.
Layout and Platforms
Ōmura Station has two side platforms serving two tracks. The station building is located beside platform 1. A footbridge connects the two platforms.
History
The station opened on June 10, 1898, as a station on the Nagasaki Main Line operated by the privately run Kyushu Railway. When the Kyushu Railway was nationalized on July 1, 1907, Japanese Government Railways (JGR) took over control of the station. In 1909, the line was redesignated as the Nagasaki Main Line.
On October 1, 1934, part of the Nagasaki Main Line was rerouted and this section including Ōmura Station was designated as the Ōmura Line. With the privatization of Japanese National Railways (JNR), the successor of JGR, on April 1, 1987, JR Kyushu took over control of the station.
The current station building was completed in 2018 as part of the larger construction project for the West Kyushu Shinkansen.
