John Edwards (Charleston politician)

John Edwards is an American politician from Charleston, South Carolina. He served in the South Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 114, which encompasses portions of Charleston County. A member of the Democratic Party, Edwards was first elected in 2016 and served until 2024.

During his time in the South Carolina House, Edwards focused on issues related to coastal preservation, affordable housing, and education. He was involved in legislative efforts to address sea-level rise and its impact on coastal communities. He also advocated for policies aimed at increasing access to affordable housing options within Charleston and across the state. Additionally, he supported initiatives to improve public education and workforce development programs.

Prior to his service in the South Carolina House, Edwards was active in local civic organizations and community initiatives. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and holds a law degree from the Charleston School of Law. He is also an attorney.
