Ali Haidar (politician)
Ali Haidar is a Syrian politician and the leader of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party – Intifada (SSNP-Intifada). This faction separated from the main Syrian Social Nationalist Party in Syria.
Haidar served as the Minister of National Reconciliation Affairs in the Syrian government, a post he held from 2012 until 2021. He was appointed to this position during a period of intense civil conflict in Syria, with the aim of facilitating dialogue and reconciliation efforts between various factions.
His political stances are generally considered pro-government. He has been involved in various initiatives related to local truces and attempts to negotiate settlements in different areas affected by the Syrian Civil War. He has publicly supported the government of Bashar al-Assad throughout the conflict.
The SSNP-Intifada, while smaller than other factions, maintains a presence within Syria. Ali Haidar's role as minister provided him with a platform to engage in reconciliation attempts, though the effectiveness and impact of these efforts remain a subject of debate.
