High Priest (album)

High Priest is the debut studio album by American rock band Monster Magnet, released in 1992. It was initially released as a limited edition double LP on German label Glitterhouse Records. The album showcases the band's early sound, a blend of psychedelic rock, stoner rock, and space rock influences.

While not as commercially successful as some of Monster Magnet's later albums, High Priest is considered a cult classic among fans and is praised for its raw energy, heavy riffs, and Dave Wyndorf's distinctive vocals. The album features extended jams, distorted guitar tones, and lyrics that explore themes of drug use, science fiction, and counterculture.

Key tracks on the album include "Pill Shovel," "Tab," and "Murder." The album's overall aesthetic leans heavily into a lo-fi, underground sensibility. Several tracks from High Priest were later re-recorded or re-released on subsequent Monster Magnet albums.
