General Service Medal (Malaysia)

The General Service Medal (Malay: Pingat Perkhidmatan Am) is a military and police service medal of Malaysia. It is awarded for general service in operations not qualifying for a specific campaign medal.

Specifically, it is awarded to members of the Malaysian Armed Forces and Royal Malaysian Police for service in the suppression of terrorism, subversive activities, or any other operations to preserve peace and order within Malaysia. The qualifying period for award typically requires a minimum period of active service in an area designated as a security zone or operational area.

The medal is circular, made of cupro-nickel. The obverse depicts the Malaysian Coat of Arms. The reverse features a map of Malaysia. The ribbon is striped with a broad central red stripe, flanked by white, yellow, and blue stripes on each side. Clasp bars are awarded to denote the specific operation for which the medal was earned.
