Prem Bhatia (journalist)
Prem Bhatia (11 August 1911 – 5 May 2005) was an Indian journalist, editor, and diplomat. He was a prominent figure in Indian journalism for over six decades.
Bhatia began his career in the 1930s with The Civil and Military Gazette in Lahore. After Partition in 1947, he moved to India and worked for various leading newspapers, including The Indian Express, The Times of India, and The Hindustan Times. He served as the Editor-in-Chief of The Indian Express and The Tribune.
Bhatia was known for his insightful political commentary and his independent voice. He covered major events in Indian history, including the Indo-Pakistani Wars and the Emergency. He was also known for his writings on international affairs.
Beyond journalism, Bhatia served as India's High Commissioner to Singapore from 1969 to 1973 and as India's Ambassador to Norway and Iceland from 1973 to 1977.
He authored several books, including his autobiography, All My Yesterdays. Bhatia was the recipient of the Padma Bhushan, one of India's highest civilian honors.
