Nabanna (building)
Nabanna is a state government building located in Howrah, West Bengal, India. It serves as the temporary secretariat of the Government of West Bengal. It was established in 2012 to decongest the Writers' Building, which previously housed the state government's secretariat in Kolkata. The Writers' Building was undergoing extensive renovations at the time.
Nabanna is situated on a 3.5-acre plot and is a 14-storied building. It houses several important government departments and offices, including the Chief Minister's office and various ministerial offices. The building plays a key role in the administration and governance of West Bengal. Following the completion of renovations at the Writers' Building, it was originally intended that Nabanna would be used for other government purposes; however, in 2023, the decision was made to retain Nabanna as the state secretariat.
