Larry Drake (baseball)
Larry Drake (born February 1, 1963, in Pontiac, Michigan) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher. He played professionally from 1985 to 1996, primarily as a relief pitcher.
Drake was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 10th round of the 1985 MLB draft. He made his major league debut with the Dodgers on September 2, 1986. He played for the Dodgers from 1986 to 1992, becoming a key member of their bullpen. Drake was known for his sinker and his ability to induce ground balls. He was a National League All-Star in 1989 and won the Rolaids Relief Man Award that same year. He also played a role in the Dodgers' 1988 World Series championship team.
After his time with the Dodgers, Drake played for the Texas Rangers (1993-1994) and the Toronto Blue Jays (1995). He briefly returned to the Dodgers in 1996 before retiring.
Since his playing career ended, Drake has been involved in coaching.
