Nickel Belt (provincial electoral district)

Nickel Belt is a provincial electoral district in Ontario, Canada. It elects one member to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. It is located in Northern Ontario.

The riding was created in 1971 from parts of Sudbury East and Sudbury North. The boundaries have been adjusted several times over the years to reflect population changes. Historically, the riding has included communities along the northern and eastern edges of the City of Greater Sudbury, as well as smaller towns and rural areas to the northeast.

The district is named for the geographic region known as the Nickel Belt, a major nickel mining area within the Sudbury Basin. Mining has historically been a significant industry in the area, influencing its demographics and political leanings.

The riding has generally supported the New Democratic Party (NDP), although the Liberal Party has also held the seat at times. The demographics of the riding contribute to this political diversity, encompassing both urban and rural communities, as well as a significant Francophone population.

The current Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) for Nickel Belt is France Gélinas, representing the New Democratic Party.
