St. Albans station (West Virginia)

St. Albans station is a former train station located in St. Albans, West Virginia. Originally serving as a major stop on the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway (C&O), it provided passenger rail service to the Kanawha Valley.

The station was a significant transportation hub for the region, facilitating travel to and from St. Albans. It handled numerous passenger trains daily, connecting the city to destinations across the C&O system. Passenger services included long-distance trains such as the George Washington, connecting to cities like Washington, D.C., Cincinnati, and Chicago.

As passenger rail travel declined in the mid-20th century, service to St. Albans diminished. The station eventually closed to passenger traffic.

The former station building still stands today, though no longer used for rail purposes. Its architectural details reflect the style of railroad stations from its period. Preservation efforts have been made to maintain the historical significance of the structure.
