Washington station (CTA Blue Line)
Washington station is an underground 'L' station on the Chicago Transit Authority's (CTA) Blue Line. It is located in the Loop district of downtown Chicago, beneath Dearborn Street at Washington Street. The station is a key transfer point, providing direct access to the Washington/Wabash station on the CTA's elevated Loop lines (Brown, Green, Orange, Pink, and Purple Lines) via a paid transfer walkway.
The station features island platforms serving trains in both directions. It primarily serves commuters working in the Loop, tourists visiting nearby attractions, and individuals transferring to other 'L' lines.
The station's design is utilitarian, typical of stations constructed as part of the Milwaukee-Dearborn Subway. While not architecturally significant, it is a critical component of Chicago's public transportation network.
Accessibility for passengers with disabilities is limited. Elevator access is available via the transfer passage to Washington/Wabash, offering access to the Loop elevated lines. However, accessing the Blue Line platforms directly requires using stairs.
