Desmond Fitzgerald (professor)

Desmond Fitzgerald is an Irish professor of medicine renowned for his contributions to cardiovascular research and academic leadership. He is known for his work in thrombosis, hemostasis, and vascular biology.

Fitzgerald has held significant leadership roles within academic institutions in Ireland. He served as the President of University College Dublin (UCD) from 2004 to 2014, a period marked by significant expansion and internationalization of the university.
