Aarup (municipality)
Aarup was a municipality in Funen County, Denmark, located on the island of Funen. It was situated in the central part of the island, west of Odense. The municipality was formed in 1970 through the amalgamation of several smaller parishes.
Key features of the former Aarup municipality included its primarily agricultural landscape, interspersed with smaller towns and villages. The largest town within the municipality was Aarup, which served as its administrative center.
As part of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform, Aarup municipality ceased to exist on January 1, 2007. It was merged with the municipalities of Glamsbjerg, Haarby, Tommerup, and Vissenbjerg to form the new Assens Municipality. Therefore, Aarup is now a town within the larger Assens Municipality.
