Kediri (city)

Kediri is a city located in East Java, Indonesia. It is situated approximately 130 kilometers southwest of Surabaya, the provincial capital. Kediri is historically significant, having been the center of the powerful Kediri Kingdom which flourished from the 11th to the 13th centuries.

The city is bisected by the Brantas River, one of Java's longest rivers, and is known for its agricultural production, particularly sugarcane and tobacco. It is also home to Gudang Garam, one of Indonesia's largest cigarette manufacturers, a major employer and contributor to the local economy.
