Ruud Hesp
Ruud Hesp (born October 31, 1965) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper.
Hesp is best known for his time at FC Barcelona, where he was the first-choice goalkeeper for three seasons under manager Louis van Gaal. He joined Barcelona in 1997 from Roda JC and quickly established himself as a reliable presence in the team. During his time at the Camp Nou, he won two La Liga titles (1997–98, 1998–99) and the Copa del Rey (1997–98).
Prior to his move to Spain, Hesp played for HFC Haarlem and Fortuna Sittard. After leaving Barcelona in 2000, he returned to the Netherlands and played for his former club, Fortuna Sittard, before retiring from professional football in 2002.
While a consistent performer at club level, Hesp never earned a senior international cap for the Netherlands national team.
After his playing career, Hesp became a goalkeeping coach.
