Behuyeh

Behuyeh (pronounced Beh-hoo-yeh) is a small, unincorporated community located in Washington County, in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. Situated along the Monongahela River, Behuyeh is largely a residential area with a history tied to the river's industrial past, particularly coal mining and river transportation.

Historically, the area's development was influenced by its proximity to larger industrial centers along the Monongahela. While it doesn't have a large commercial district of its own, Behuyeh provided housing for workers in nearby factories and mines.

The name "Behuyeh" is believed to derive from a Native American term, although the exact meaning and tribal origin are debated among local historians. Some interpretations link it to a description of the land or the river itself.
