William Morrow (screenwriter)

William Morrow (1927 – 1999) was an American screenwriter, television producer, and playwright. He was primarily known for his work in television, writing for a variety of genres including comedy, drama, and anthology series.

Morrow began his television career in the 1950s, contributing scripts to popular shows like Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Loretta Young Show, and Leave It to Beaver. He often collaborated with his writing partner, Norman Paul. Together, they wrote for The Twilight Zone, including the memorable episode "A Quality of Mercy".

Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Morrow continued to write extensively for television. His credits include The Defenders, Dr. Kildare, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and Mission: Impossible. He also worked as a producer on several television series.

In addition to his television work, Morrow wrote for the stage. His play, A Thousand Clowns, premiered on Broadway in 1962 and was later adapted into a successful film in 1965, for which he co-wrote the screenplay. The play and film explored themes of nonconformity and individual expression.
