Walsingham (W&WLR) railway station
Walsingham (W&WLR) railway station was the western terminus of the Wells and Walsingham Light Railway (W&WLR), a 10 1/4-inch gauge heritage railway in Norfolk, England. The station served the village of Little Walsingham, a noted site of pilgrimage. It was located approximately a short distance from the village centre.
The station was purpose-built for the light railway and included typical station features such as platforms, a station building incorporating a booking office and waiting room, and locomotive and carriage sheds. It provided facilities for passengers travelling to and from Wells-next-the-Sea, the eastern terminus of the line.
Following the closure of the original W&WLR in 1964, the site was redeveloped. A new, though unrelated, 10 1/4-inch gauge railway was later established on a different site nearer the village centre, named the Wells and Walsingham Railway (W&WR). Therefore, this entry refers specifically to the original W&WLR station and not the current railway.
