Andrzej Gawroński (bishop)

Andrzej Gawroński (born 30 June 1951, Warsaw, Poland, died 4 April 2024, Rome, Italy) was a Polish Roman Catholic priest, diplomat of the Holy See, and titular archbishop.

Gawroński was ordained a priest in 1981. He entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See in 1987.

He served in various nunciatures, including those in Zambia, Tanzania, and Indonesia. He also served in the Section for Relations with States of the Secretariat of State.

On 28 November 2005, he was appointed titular archbishop of Gran Risa and Apostolic Nuncio to Thailand and Cambodia, as well as Apostolic Delegate to Laos and Myanmar. He was consecrated as archbishop on 13 January 2006 by Cardinal Angelo Sodano.

On 25 January 2008, his responsibilities expanded when he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Myanmar.

He retired from his diplomatic service in 2018.

Gawroński was known for his knowledge of languages and for his service in complex geopolitical areas. He was a member of the Gawroński noble family, originating from Gawrony.
