Sagae Dam
The Sagae Dam is a multi-purpose dam located on the Mogami River in Sagae, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. It serves primarily for flood control, irrigation, and power generation. Construction of the dam was completed in 1990. The dam creates a reservoir known as the Gassan Lake. The Sagae Dam is an embankment dam, and it plays a significant role in regulating the flow of the Mogami River, mitigating flood damage to downstream areas, and providing a stable water supply for agricultural purposes.
