Don Martin (American football)

Don Martin (born August 9, 1931, died June 24, 2023) was an American football coach and executive. He is best known for his long and successful tenure at Boston College, where he served as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator from 1968 to 1980.

Martin began his coaching career at the high school level before moving to college football. Prior to Boston College, he coached at Villanova University. At Boston College, he was instrumental in developing strong defensive units and played a key role in the Eagles' success during the 1970s, including their undefeated season in 1970.

Following his time at Boston College, Martin worked in the United States Football League (USFL) as a coach and later transitioned into a front office role with the New England Patriots in the National Football League (NFL). He held various positions with the Patriots, including director of player personnel and vice president of football operations.

Martin was known for his keen eye for talent and his contributions to player evaluation and roster management. He was respected throughout the football community for his knowledge of the game and his dedication to developing players.
