BIGFlix
BIGFlix was an Indian subscription-based video on demand (SVOD) service, owned and operated by Reliance Entertainment. Launched in 2008, it offered a wide range of movies, short films, and web series in various Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, and Marathi. It was available on web browsers, mobile apps (iOS and Android), and connected TVs.
The service allowed users to stream content on demand for a monthly subscription fee. BIGFlix aimed to cater to the growing demand for digital entertainment in India, providing a convenient and affordable way to access a library of Indian films. Its content library included both classic and contemporary titles, spanning different genres.
BIGFlix ceased operations in 2018. Reliance Entertainment, the parent company, announced the closure citing increased competition in the streaming market and a shift in strategic focus. Other players such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hotstar (now Disney+ Hotstar) gained significant market share during the same period.
