Simeon Simeonov (footballer, born 1946)

Simeon Simeonov (Bulgarian: Симеон Симеонов; 26 March 1946 – 2 November 2000) was a Bulgarian football goalkeeper. He is best known for playing for Slavia Sofia and the Bulgarian national team, with whom he participated in the 1966, 1970 and 1974 FIFA World Cups.

Career

Simeonov spent the majority of his club career at Slavia Sofia, appearing in 205 league matches. He also had spells with CSKA Sofia and Etar Veliko Tarnovo.

International Career

Simeonov earned 34 caps for Bulgaria between 1967 and 1976. He was the starting goalkeeper for Bulgaria at the 1974 FIFA World Cup in West Germany. He was also a part of the squads for the 1966 and 1970 World Cups, although he did not play in either tournament.
