Senel Paz
Senel Paz (born Senel Paz Bustamante in Ranchuelo, Cuba, in 1950) is a Cuban screenwriter, novelist, and journalist. He is best known for his screenplay for the film Fresa y Chocolate (Strawberry and Chocolate, 1993), which received international acclaim and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
Paz's work often explores themes of sexuality, tolerance, and the complexities of Cuban society. He has written extensively about the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals in Cuba and the importance of understanding and accepting differences.
In addition to Fresa y Chocolate, Paz has written screenplays for other films, including Una rosa de Francia (A Rose from France, 2006). He has also published several novels and short story collections, which have been translated into multiple languages.
