Swiss-Ukrainian project "Organic Market Development in Ukraine" (2012–2016)

The Swiss-Ukrainian project "Organic Market Development in Ukraine" (2012–2016) was a collaborative initiative aimed at fostering the growth of the organic agriculture sector within Ukraine. Funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and implemented by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL, the project focused on strengthening the regulatory framework for organic production, enhancing the competitiveness of Ukrainian organic producers, and promoting consumer awareness of organic products. Key activities included supporting the development and implementation of national organic standards and legislation, providing training and technical assistance to farmers and processors, facilitating access to markets, and conducting consumer education campaigns. The project also worked to establish platforms for dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders in the organic sector, including government agencies, producer associations, and research institutions. The overall goal was to contribute to the sustainable development of Ukrainian agriculture and improve the livelihoods of rural communities through the expansion of the organic market.
