Sud Radio

Sud Radio is a French privately owned radio station. Its broadcast area covers a significant portion of southern France, and it also broadcasts nationally via digital audio broadcasting (DAB+) and online.

Originally known as Radio Andorre (Radio Andorra), it began broadcasting in 1939 from Andorra, taking advantage of Andorra's broadcasting autonomy outside the direct control of the French state. This allowed it to offer more independent programming than was available on French state-owned radio stations at the time. Radio Andorra was immensely popular, especially during World War II and the post-war era, due to its entertainment programs and news coverage.

In 1981, following changes in French broadcasting regulations that opened the airwaves to private radio stations, Radio Andorra began broadcasting under the name Sud Radio from Toulouse. The station gradually moved its operations and focus to Toulouse, becoming integrated into the French media landscape.

Sud Radio offers a generalist format, featuring news, talk shows, music, and sports programming. It's known for its talk radio format, hosting discussions on current events, politics, and societal issues. The station generally leans towards a conservative perspective in its political commentary.

Sud Radio is part of the Sud Radio Groupe, which may also include other media assets and subsidiaries.
