Gene Allen (art director)
Gene Allen (born June 17, 1918, Los Angeles, California – died March 7, 2015, Newport Beach, California) was an American art director, production designer, and set decorator who worked in film and television. He is best known for his work on films such as A Star is Born (1954), Les Girls (1957), and My Fair Lady (1964), for which he won an Academy Award for Best Art Direction. Allen also served as President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences from 1983 to 1985. His career spanned several decades, contributing significantly to the visual aesthetics of numerous notable productions.
