David Cross (footballer, born 1950)
David Cross (born 16 December 1950) is a former English professional footballer who played as a forward.
Cross began his career with Rochdale, making his league debut in 1969. He moved to Norwich City in 1972 and spent four seasons with the club, helping them to promotion to the First Division. He later played for Coventry City, West Bromwich Albion, Bolton Wanderers, Vancouver Whitecaps, Manchester City, Oldham Athletic, and Limerick United. He retired from professional football in 1986.
Cross was known for his prolific goalscoring record. During his time with West Bromwich Albion, he formed a formidable partnership with Cyrille Regis and Laurie Cunningham. He also had a successful spell in the North American Soccer League with the Vancouver Whitecaps, where he was a leading scorer. He earned one cap for the England national team, in a friendly match against Wales in 1976.
