Rohini Mohan (journalist)
Rohini Mohan is an independent journalist and writer based in Bangalore, India. Her work often focuses on human rights, social justice, conflict, and environmental issues, with a particular emphasis on South Asia.
Mohan's writing has appeared in publications such as The Caravan, The New York Times, Al Jazeera, Foreign Policy, The Hindu, and Granta. She is known for her in-depth reporting and long-form narrative journalism.
She is the author of The Seasons of Trouble, a non-fiction book published in 2014. The book investigates the aftermath of the Sri Lankan civil war through the lives of several individuals affected by the conflict. The Seasons of Trouble won the Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize, the Tata Literature Live! First Book Award for Non-Fiction, and was a finalist for the Samuel Johnson Prize (now the Baillie Gifford Prize).
Mohan has received numerous awards and fellowships for her journalism, including the 2018 Yale World Fellow and a 2013 London School of Economics South Asia Centre Visiting Fellowship. She is a graduate of the Asian College of Journalism in Chennai.
