Robert Browne (died 1558)

Robert Browne (died 1558) was an English Roman Catholic martyr executed during the reign of Queen Mary I. He was burned at the stake for heresy in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, on April 14, 1558, along with John Flood and John Foxe. Browne was a weaver by trade. He was denounced for denying the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist and rejecting the authority of the Pope. His execution was part of the Marian Persecutions, a period of intense religious persecution of Protestants during Mary I's reign. He is commemorated as a martyr in some Protestant traditions.
