Mason (crater)
Mason is a lunar impact crater that lies along the eastern edge of Mare Marginis. It is located in the northeastern quadrant of the Moon's near side. To the southwest of Mason is the crater Al-Biruni, and to the north-northwest is the larger crater Schubert.
The rim of Mason is well-defined, although somewhat irregular, and displays little sign of significant erosion. The inner walls are terraced, and slope down to a somewhat uneven inner floor. At the center of the crater is a small central peak.
Due to its location near the eastern limb, Mason is subject to foreshortening when viewed from Earth, making observation somewhat challenging. Its proximity to the Mare Marginis also makes it prone to lower albedo reflections during full moon phases.
