Maldivian (airline)
Maldivian, formerly known as Island Aviation Services, is the flag carrier airline of the Maldives. Headquartered in Malé, the capital city, it operates scheduled domestic and international flights, connecting the various islands of the Maldives and providing links to destinations primarily in South Asia and Southeast Asia.
The airline plays a crucial role in the Maldivian economy, facilitating tourism and providing essential transport links between islands, many of which are only accessible by air or sea. Maldivian operates a mixed fleet of turboprop aircraft for short-haul domestic routes and jet aircraft for longer international flights.
The airline has a history dating back to its inception in 2000 and has grown significantly since then. Its main hub is Velana International Airport (MLE) near Malé. Maldivian offers both economy and business class services on its international routes.
