Rob Newman (comedian)
Rob Newman (born 1964) is a British comedian, writer, and political activist. He is best known as one half of the comedy duo Newman and Baddiel, along with David Baddiel, and later for his stand-up shows and books exploring themes of economics, science, and philosophy.
Newman began his comedy career in the late 1980s, quickly gaining recognition for his intelligent and often satirical material. Newman and Baddiel achieved mainstream success in the early 1990s with their groundbreaking sketch show Newman and Baddiel in Pieces and their stadium comedy performances, notably at Wembley Arena. The pair's success helped usher in a new era of alternative comedy in Britain.
Following the end of his partnership with Baddiel, Newman pursued a solo career. His stand-up shows have become increasingly focused on complex and challenging topics, blending humour with in-depth research and analysis. These shows often delve into areas such as climate change, social inequality, and the history of economic thought.
